Cessna Citation CJ1

Cessna Citation CJ1

The Citation Jet CJ1 Model 525 (serial numbers 0360 to 0599) powered by two Williams International FJ-44-1A turbofans is the second generation from the original Citation CJ Model 525, serial numbers 0001 to 0359

With many improvements in economy and performance over it's predecessor, the CJ1 has the advantage of the many years of trial and testing of it's "little sister" (or brother whichever you prefer)

The earlier Citation, used a straight wing, which reduced production and design cost.  Four years of joint venture between NASA and Cessna, resulted in the CJ1 incorporating a natural laminar flow wing, which improved the lift-to-drag characteristics ten to fifteen percent over the earlier straight wing design.

The CJ1 with it's laminar flow wings and the Williams/Rolls-Royce FJ44-1A turbofans,  makes it an extremely fuel-efficient aircraft, consuming an average of 134 gallons per hour.  Another contributor to the CJ1's low operating cost is the Pro Line 21 avionics package with Primary Flight Display and Multi Function flat-panel screens, thus making it possible for businessmen to fly their own private jet in the course of their business activities.

The CJ1's low operating costs and it's high payload, 833 pounds of luggage in it's three baggage compartments, translates to reduced direct operating costs for operators.   In addition to this, the fact that the CJ2 can take of in only 3,080 feet at sea level, and on runways of 5,000 ft above sea level, it's takeoff distance is 5,710 feet, allows the aircraft to use short runways.

The CJ1's maximum fuel weight increased by 300 pounds and it's MTOW by 100 pounds over the earlier version CJ series, which resulted in better flight planning options for owners.  The CJ1 is also faster than the earlier version, thus cutting flight times.

Over comfort has been improved with features like, the dropped aisle, which gives a more spacious feel to the five passenger cabin. The improvement in the door locking mechanism, reduces cabin noise, resulting in a much more comfortable flight and making the CJ2 a great choice for companies needing to make short trips of under two hours duration.
